A day of wonder and excitement

Our kindy day offers children ample time to freely experience our magnificent site and develop life-long friendships with children their age with a careful balance of structured learning times.

Each morning we run our highly respected transition to school programme (Moa time). This programme is carefully planned by fully qualified early childhood teachers. These learning experiences extend children’s personal interests, and those of the curriculum areas, so that children have the very best transition to school possible. Each morning we have a baking or a sensory experience that our children just love to partake in. Our afternoon programme includes a beautiful story time as a preschool family where they are able to share news and celebrate the day's learning together.

During free play times, our children are able to explore the entire 1070sqm site and because of our very high ratio of teachers, during these times our team are active observers and fully present in seeing rich play unfold. These precious times allow us to genuinely get to know your child and what their individual interests are. We are also there to scaffold play, experiences and interests as we see them with our extensive range of high-quality resources available to be utilised as the day unfolds.

Moa Time - Our Transition to School Programme - a Solid Foundation

Our transition to school programme is very special to us at Stepping Stones. We have presented our programme to local primary schools – Good Shepherd School and Maungawhau School – and both have given high praise for the strong learning base with which we send our children off to them.

We believe that it is our role to support your children in the best way we can to ensure a smooth transition from centre to school. This means that our teachers regularly sit in on year one classes and carefully plan a transition to school programme that is FUN, inspiring and individual to each child.

Our transition to school programme is designed by qualified early childhood teachers to offer fun, stimulating learning times that extend children in the following areas: Public speaking, problem solving skills – teaching children to think, personal development, math concepts, counting, identifying numbers as symbols, shapes, waiata, colours, story-telling, science concepts and experiments, physical skills, being organised, taking messages / direction, large physical skills (gross motor), literacy (recognising letters and encouraging writing) and self-help skills.
